Carla Wood studied Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University, completing a year-long industry placement with the UK’s largest independent designer, Paul Smith, before her final year. During this placement, she worked in pattern cutting and sewing, honing her tailoring skills alongside a highly experienced team of cutters, designers, machinists, and production specialists.
Returning to Nottingham Trent, Carla applied this experience to her graduate collection, which explored themes of female empowerment in the outdoors. The work incorporated advanced technical pattern cutting, including deconstructed tailoring.
Her final-year collection was showcased at London Graduate Fashion Week 2025 on the Nottingham Trent catwalk, nominated for the Debenhams-sponsored Commercial Award, and featured in the London GFW catwalk presentation. It was also exhibited at The Fashanne Awards 2025 following a nomination for the Womenswear Design Award.
Building on this foundation of technical expertise and creative design, Carla has now launched her own tailoring and alterations business. Combining industry-level precision with a personal approach, she is committed to offering clients high-quality craftsmanship, whether through bespoke tailoring, careful alterations, or refined garment adjustments.
